Wish #6034 - Sales History - Options

There are times where you just don't need to see sales history BY MONTH. In fact the vast majority of parts sell slow enough that sales by month is way overkill. On the new Multi-Store change data screen - where SPACE is a premium - to not have some options is awkward at best - may we suggest the OPTION to show sales for either calendar year or rolling 12 month period and the previous year - so in two data fields we will have LOTS of data and save a lot of space. These fields will need to be a calculated field in which the programs adds up the sales by month and display in the yearly field
Bonus points if some one call tell what P Hist is? Make my life much simpler - especially in multi-store issues.

Wish # 6033 - give POWER USERS access to the BTM message board

Note --there is a duplicate on wish # 6033 - will let stand with TWO

Hello Dane & Normand

Wish # 6033 - give POWER USERS access to the CARQUEST BTM message board.   Let gravity takes it course to see where the impact of power users having access to BTM from across North America ( and visa versa ).

Message Boards have proven their worth in many other industries = however - it does seem that GPI resists the tug of gravity - you can't resist forever.  Let the forces of good and innovative people help make EXPLORIS better - faster ...that is what MB's are good at -- accelerating the pace of change.

Below is one of several request for innovation that I keep - so history can judge us with all the facts.

Will you support power users having access to the BTM's MB ?

Greg,

One of the initiatives I will be trying to implement in 2006 is an IT
support strategy via help desk,
message boards, and some of the other items
you've mentioned. We will be implementing this initiative in a well-planned
manner. Once it has been approved by the IT Governance Council we can begin.
At that time I'd like you to help with the requirements.

Hello Joe

Yesterday when I mentioned the message board - you made a comment that you
had to handle the more basic problems first ... How do you feel about this
point below ...

Why can't we ask questions via e-mail -- it is most inconvenient to log a
call and wait for someone to call back - often times I am not available
...where as when someone is 'comfortable' with e-mail that option becomes
pretty handy to BOTH parties. ( John has always fought me on asking e-mail
questions - but that doesn't stop me ) ...see example below

Now - if I take this situation one step further -- existing is a private
call and answer - without any ability to share the answer... Very time
consuming and very costly for YOU.

I have repeatedly ask for
1) the FAQ list in searchable form - so I an ask these questions from
a help data base
2) when questions are answered via e-mail - and a copy was sent to the
J-Con help message board -- others could also share and your cost when way
down... So ... I don't think a message board is a 'fluffy' item --I think
it is a basic fundamental tool being totally ignored by GPI.

There has to be simpler and more cost effect ways of sharing knowledge for
IT and to help users become power users. I can show examples of how it
works elsewhere - why not here

Wish # 6033 - re-schedule counts for any changed part

I was at SMH ( sells fork lift parts ) and they told us in passing on this ---

If something is WRONG on their count and they correct -- the SAME PART is added to a COUNT LIST REPORT two days latter ---to ensure the problem is correct. The more I think about this the better I LOVE this idea.

For example - in two days
-the missing part has been returned from underneath the counterman's desk
-the missing part was found out of order (the 3 foot rule - look in a 3 foot radius for the missing part )
- got any other points to add ?

This is really a GREAT IDEA --is there any way we could add this as an option to Exploris ?  I CC Tom was it is probably a great idea for all warehouses as well ( or maybe they do it -- and never shared this great idea with the jobbers ? )

how does Exploris handle CYCLE COUNTS?  Can we set up automatically in Exploris????  Or is this a further request ??

Wish #6032 - Multi-Store Sales by line Code

There should be a clean and simple way to get a CONSOLIDATED Sales By Line Code for Multi-Store operations ....  see image -- we jury rig something together - but we don't expect something this labor intensive or rough looking from a system like Exploris

In J-Con there was a clean and fast way to hack the report--in CARQUEST Exploris we Expect this report to be in the system.

Wish # 6031 - fix the print button in POST PAYMENTS

We are told this is a known problem - BUT -- who is overlooking the COST of having this known problem - languish ...  the issue is -- when we get charges or credits from the warehouse statement for items like labor guides or tech net fees - we have to apply a credit or debt memo to the customer.  Since the PRINT button is broken - we have to jury rig some sort of written explanation for the customer - and this all takes TIME --that we can NOT bill anyone for.
FIX the print button like it should be - and we save all that time EVERY MONTH for approx 30 customer charges x 12 months of doing the same thing x our cost per hour to do these  and you find this becomes are LARGE expense we have to cover since your system has a broken part ...

When will this broken PRINT screen button be fixed ?  You are costing us a lot in wasted productivity.

Wish #6030 - optional paper weights in Invoice paper

Wish #6030 - have optional paper weights for Invoice paper.   At present our Sku # CQ EXO101CE  is for 24# paper ( data courtesy of Ed Shields in Shared Services Ext# 5166 in Raleigh ) - your part # may vary - but you are still getting  24#paper --whereas normal standard photocopy paper is 20# and the old J-Con invoice was 15#.

Issues- 24# paper costs more !!

Issues- 24# weights more -(gee imagine that) ---so in Canada if we include the statement (gee - lets look at that weight of paper as well) and just 4 invoice copies --we are over the 32 gram weight and the postage kick up to $1.00 from the standard 57 cents ... using the older paper in J-Con we could get 6 to 8 copies before the weight kicked the price up ..;. and with the new electronic postage meters - you have NO choice for postage - the machine sets it automatically ....  so lets do the math -  50 customers require extra postage of 1.00-.57 = .43 cents - every month for a year --that is and extra $258 in expenses we have to cover due to the weight of the paper.

Now - there is a down side - there is always a down side- Ed Shields correctly states that some places will have a HI paper jam rate - and the thicker paper may be requited - I don;t fault that -- BUT -- give us that  choice ...  have two sku's - for pre-printed invoices.

Please -- also give us the less cost for 20# paper - as the raw product costs less.

CHOICES and CONSEQUENCES -- even the smallest decisions have issues... :-)

PLEASE  allow us to choose what paper weight we need .....
